JRP Style Guide

Thank you for booking your Fall Session or Fall Mini Session with JRP! As a thank you I have put together this Fall Styling Guide! Below you’ll find fall clothing inspo, which can be purchased from my Amazon Lists, as well as color palettes that compliment each other.

In addition to Amazon, Baltic Born has beautiful dresses for mom. My favorite local boutiques for mom are Lock Boutique and By A Thread Boutique. And Old Navy, Gap and Target are great options for more dad, kid and baby clothes. Another new local boutique for babies/kids is Thread Baby Boutique.

I want you to look and feel your best during your session with me and I hope these guides help!

1. Be yourself!  Lifestyle photography is meant to be authentic and one of the ways you can make sure to do that is by wearing something that represents you.  Don’t make your husband wear a button-down shirt if he hates them.  Don’t wear a dress if you’re not a dress person.  You can absolutely dress your best and still be in your own style.

2.) Coordinate - don't match.   Choose colors that complement each other.  Neutral colors such as black, white, off-white, and navy photograph beautifully.  I highly recommend avoiding logos, graphics and bright fluorescent colors.  The bright colors reflect back and make your face fluorescent too.

3.) Don’t combine more than one pattern.  Typically only one family member should wear a pattern.  I suggest mom choose her outfit first.  She should choose something she feels beautiful in and then build the family’s outfits around hers.

4.) Dress in layers. Layers such as scarfs, hats, cardigans, tights, blazers, and jackets add interest but can also easily be removed if too warm.

5.) Shoes and accessories are important too. A great outfit with old, dirty shoes won't look as good. Necklaces and headbands can add a pop of color too.

6.)  Create a Pinterest Board! Pinterest has so many clothing ideas for complimenting colors! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions!
